One of the first signs of spring is the arrival of the Red Winged Blackbird and one of the first places to see them is perched on a cattail or bulrush in the marsh or pond. The males are a deep, glossy black with red and yellow epaulets and sure stand out perched on the neutral colored cattails on this roadside pond in Guelph Ontario Canada.
